Inés’s journey from Vatican correspondent for the Boston Globe’s Crux to championing the Pope’s missions is as inspiring as the work she now leads. Today, she helps support 1,124 mission dioceses in Asia, Africa, Oceania, and Latin America—many of which could not survive without the spiritual and financial aid provided through the Pontifical Mission Societies.
One striking fact she shared? Nearly one-third of all seminarians in the world—over 80,000 future priests—receive formation thanks to this support. And here in the U.S., faithful Catholics help make that possible through prayer, generous giving, and participation in World Mission Sunday each October.
“It’s an honor to help others encounter Jesus Christ,” Inés shared. “There are 4.5 billion people in the world who have yet to hear the Gospel. That’s what drives our mission.”In addition to supporting the missions through prayer and almsgiving, Inés encourages parishes and individuals to subscribe to Mission Magazine, a beautifully crafted publication now in full revival—sharing real stories from the mission field that touch the heart and inspire action.
As Catholics, we’re all called to be missionaries. Whether that’s overseas or in our own neighborhoods, we each have a role to play in bringing Christ to others.
